The takeover and demutualisation took place in 2000. This was one of the best payouts in the mutual sector, IIRC the minimum was 500 pounds, plus a variable amount based on policy value.

Nice to hear some people are receiving good news amidst all this financial gloom. :)
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

thankyou that really good of you as we cant find anything out we have tried ringing them up but nothing thanks
  • If you can provide them with enough information to trace your policy - date of birth, address at the time you had the policy etc they should be able to confirm the status of your policy and the amount due. You might need to prove your identity with passport or similar proof before they release anything to you though.

Scottish Widows will maintain a 'gone away' account that holds the windfall payments for customers who could not be located at the time, so you should definitely get something. Just keep in touch with them and keep pressing!

well i am in the same boat has you a long, lost and forgoten policy from about 20years ago,1988,
the silly thing was i got a letter from DWP with a form from scottish widows asking me to fill it in and send it off ,which i did ,that was just over a month ago and it's taken me from getting the letter to find the policy about 5/6 weeks ,
it was in the loft in a file that had not been opened when i moved house in 1993,i wonder how many more people have long lost policys that they have forgotten about,
i have spoken to one off the blokes that is doing the trace and it's now in a que to be finalished and there sending a upto date statement/policy out has well to me,so it looks good.
it was a scottish widows appropiate personal pension, i think it was when every one started pulling out of the state pension ,may be wrong it was a long time ago,i had only just turned 20 at the time so nothing like that was important, then you grow up and you know it is important

sorry about it been an old post i just through i would let you now your not the only one that forgot about a policy with them
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff
