Is it permanent hair colour or semi permanent? If it's permanent you wont be able to get it off. I'm afraid it's there forever. If it's semi you will eventually get most of it off with a carpet shampoo like Vanish. But there will always be a stain there.

I know this feeling so well - I coloured my hair at home and the colour went all over the bathroom. On the packet it said, 'Sit back and relax for 30 mins whilst the colour works." I spent the 30 mins on my hands and knees scrubbing every inch of the bathroom! We don't have carpet but I found that Cillit Bang got it off the wood, stone floor and sink! This was semi - permenent, however, I think Black Saturn is right, if it's permenent it's time to buy a nice houseplant to put on the stain!! :D

All I can say is put a rug over it, like i did!
