is home baking cheaper?

I love baking and home baked items are hard to beat. However just like the OP I too was wondering if it is reallly cheaper to bulk bake. The reason for this is that whenever I put more than one item in my fan oven my timings just go completely out of the window, everything seems to take so much longer to cook....... sometimes taking almost twice as long.
It is true then that the more items in an oven the longer things will take to cook?

By the way my oven is almost brand new only 4 years old and works very well0 -
On the subject of home baking...
I love making my own cakes etc, and tend to over cook, then freeze, for lunches etc at uni and so on, but I don't eat eggs, so find myself buying them just to make cake with. While I was house sharing it wasn't much of a problem, as my housemates would happily finish off what I didn't need, but now it seems a little wasteful, unless I'm definitely going to make enough to use all 6 in one go - and that's before I start complaining about the price of them! So, rather than having to go out especially to buy eggs to make cake, is there something I can substitute it for? Someone mentioned oil to me once, but I don't know what kind of quantities I should be using, or if it even works?

could you use powdered egg? I have not tried it but my friend told me the other day that she used powdered egg as she had run out of real eggs and she was impressed with the results!!0 -

Instead of one egg you can use:
-1tbspgram flour/soya flour and 1tbsp water
-2tbsp flour,1/2tbsp shortening,1/2tbsp baking powder and 2tbsp water
-50g tofu blended with liquid portion of recipe
-1/2 large banana,mashed
These is information I copied from a post here, but I haven't actually got round to trying any of them!

I'm not organized enough (yet!) to bake batches,or bake several things at the same time. But I also have a very small kitchen and a tiny freezer. This means that preparation space is limited and that I can't make loads of things to freeze.
So,often I put the oven on just for a cake, but I would rather eat HM cakes etc.At least I know what's in them, and it gives me a real feeling of achievement.Plus,of course, they are delicious!
Also,I say to myself that if I want some cake/scones/a biscuit then I can have it if I make it.I find that I'm less likely to overeat something if it's HM,as I know the time and effort that has gone into it.0 -

Cake with no eggs
2 cups SR flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 - 1/3 cup cocoa powder (if you want a chocolate cake)
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup milk (or water or mixture)
1/2 cup orange juice. (if you don't have orange juice, make up the total liquid to 1 1/2 cups with extra milk/water and use a couple of tbs of vinegar)
2 tsp vanilla essence (or lemon or orange)
Sieve the dry ingredients together. Whisk the wet ingredients together, then whisk into the dry ingredients. Pour into a cake tin (makes 10" x 8" cake - about 30-40 mins @ 180C)
or
about 24 fairy cakes - about 15 mins @ 180C
or
round cake (I think mine's 8") which takes about an hour @ 160C.0 -
