After the bank using their right to "set off" to pay my credit card from my current acct, I finally got the courgae to phone them.
The woman I spoke to was a little patronising and not very easy to understand, she told me that they would not accept anything under £97 per month, even though I told her I oculd only stretch to 50.
I agreed to pay 97 this month but refused to set up a standing order for this amount and said that I would call next month ref the next payment.
Have I done the right thing? As there is no way I can affor 97 quid a month.
So they do not use their set off right again I have set up a new bank acct elsewhere and wages shall be going in there.
Just not sure what to do now as I can not afford what they are demanding every month!
Cheers

First thing i would do is get a new account to pay your wages into so they can't take anymore money. Contact CCCS for details on setting up a debt management plan either through them, or they will be able to tell you haw do arrange the repayments yourself (there are templates available here too). Put it in writing rather than phone and do not offer more than you can afford. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110
