role play games for pc

i would love to get my DH a new role play game for his PC. In the past he has enjoyed things like Monkey Island, Simon the Sorceror, Sherlock Holmes and Grim Fandango. He doesn't like the shooting/fighting type games. Any one got any suggestions?

If he hasnt already played them the Broken Sword games are similar to monkey island and grim fandango where you have to find objects and solve puzzles. play.com has broken sword 1 and 2 as a double pack for £4.99 at the moment but you can pick them up on ebay or game shops pretty cheap. Cluedo fatal illusion is also the same type of game play but i found this a little easy. Dracula ressurection and dracula the last sanctuary are also the same type of game though i played this on the playstation its available for pc too. Check out the discworld games too. if he likes the not too serious games like grim fandango and monkey island he will love these.

Those would be adventure games. For some unfathomable reason, good examples of the genre are not all that common these days; Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon is one of the most recent, and that's over two years old now!

Have you considered Psychonauts? T'was designed by the same guy responsible for several of the games you've already mentioned.

Also, be sure to check out Maniac Mansion Deluxe, Beneath a Steel Sky* and Flight of the Amazon Queen*. They're not the most modern of games, but they are free!
