Extending mortgage

Hi all - we planned to extend our mortgage, before all of the money troubles started, for some home improvements.

We went to our bank and they agreed in principle to extending the mortgage and gave us a rough idea of how much more it would be. At the time we didn't have any definite figure. We are nearer that now, but we are worried that the bank won't extend our mortgage now because of current financial situation. We haven't phoned the bank yet to check.

Anyone any advice or experiences of extending mortgage?

The people you should be asking is your bank - give them a call and find out.

Hi, we spent 2 hours at the bank on wednesday extending our mortgage, it all seems to be fine and is going through at the moment. We only extended by 25K and our borrowing is still about 40% less than the value of the house.
Give them a ring, sure it will be fine , we did seem to have to show them more details, bank statements , driving licences etc than we did a year ago when we moved in. Understandable though. Good luck.
