Can anyone give me some advise please.
My partner and I are considering getting a mortgage together. I have a clear credit file. He has no credit and all. He is not on the electrol register anywhere and is aware he needs to get on the electrol register to increase his credit score. In Nov 2003 (this will drop off credit file next year). he split from his partner and ended up with 6 months of arrears. The mortgage has been redeemed and was satisfied in full. But the arrears do show on his credit file. Will this affect a new mortgage or will the mortg company just see it as satisfied.
Would appreciate your input.
PS Wheres the best mortgages??..best rates??...Is there any available mortgages at the moment??...

What property prices are you looking at?
What deposit do you have?
The arrears could cause a problem with some lenders, however being that old, they should not have as great an impact as if it were more recent
Plenty of mortgage to choose from - you need to fit the critieria of the lenders though which is getting more and more tricky at present.
And that will establish what deals/rates you will be able to go for.
