No £60 extra for me?

in Cutting tax
Hi there
I work as a nanny and im being paid weekly gross £224 so my bank account has been credited by £188.33 and from september £189.32
I mentioned to my boss the tax code change and that i should be paid something extra in September. She just said that she doesn't understand any of that and she won't pay me anything extra
. Is it against the law for her not to pay the extra? Is she within her rights to deny me the extra payment of £60?
Thanks,
Ivanad

Has your boss updated your tax code at all since the 7th September?
If you were on 543L, then you would now be on 603L. What does it say on your payslip?0 -
It is possible that she is not operating PAYE correctly.
Do you get payslips? If so do they show your tax code at all?0 -
Personally I'm suspicious....the extra money is simply taken from what would normaly be given to the tax man and then given to you. So there is no 'extra' as far as an employer is concerned.
I'd check your tax code.
And it isn't only September. From now until the end of march you should get an extra tenner a month.
What you do is up to you, but I don't think it needs to be spelled out what the potential results could be.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

You may have fallen foul of the practice whereby nannies are paid a net amount not a gross amount. I've employed nannies for about 15 years and it has always irritated me beyond belief that their pay has to be quoted "net" and that of course many so called employers don't then bother to pay the tax.
What it would mean in your case is that you carry on getting the same net amount and that your employer is actually the one who gains. Nothing you can do about it as the contractual payment is for a net amount after tax and NI.
Does she operate the PAYE scheme herself or use someone like nannytax? If the latter, ask her if you can call them. If the former, she may be using what is called a simplified scheme - I've not used one for several years but from memory it could mean you do not get the benefit quite as expected.0 -
thanks everyone
she does PAYE herself and i just checked its simplified scheme
i might ask her to call my tax office and find out for me 0
