Does this make sense to anybody? Son earned £428.20 after deductions W/E 3/10 and paid £57.60 tax and £34.20 NI. W/E 10th he earned £367.69 and paid £73.30 and N.I. £41.40. Very strange that he paid less tax last week and more tax this week and less in his pay packet. His tax code for the last two weeks are 603L which seems right. Finance Office says this is right and he should query it with the tax office. Are they right? Thanks

Not really enough information here although there does seem to be something wrong with the NI figure for w/e 3/10 can you check that one.
To check tax can you advise the taxable gross pay for each of these weeks and the week before. Also for the last week the total taxable pay to date and the total tax paid to date, and the tax basis which is usually in the box after the code.0 -
what was his tax code for w/e 26/090
-
W/E 3/10 Gross £520 a week, tax £57.60, N.I. £34.20. Net £428.20
W/E 10/10 Gross £482.30, tax £73.20, N.I. £41.41, net £367.69
Have to ask him about 26/9 as he does live at home.

Hi
Looks to me like 3/10 payslip is completely wrong - the national insurance is definitely understated.
I do not think it is the tax office that he needs to speak to - this looks like a processing error by the employer.0
