bailiffs and home computers/cars for work

Hi all

I am currently dealing with a sutuation that may result in a visit from a bailiff. I intend to avoid this but it has got me thinking. We are a family of 6 (2adults 4 children) I mostly understand the do's and don'ts from this and other forums but I have a question about what they can actually take.

Basically, I probably only have 3 items of any value. A 10 year old TV. A car, A home PC and a second PC that one of my children uses for home work. (a present from Gran) I understand they cant takes books, cloths, furniture etc..

The T.V they would be welcome to, me and the familiy could do with less TV :-)

The family computer has peronal banking information, all our financial records and all the family photo's going back years and years in some cases the only family records we have. With this in mind surely there is a case to excluding this as an item to be taken. They are also obliged to protect our confidential information and given they intend to auction it to any Tom !!!!!! or Mary then this would be a conflict right? they will effectivly be selling all the information a fraudster would need to commit crime in my name. What are the rules on digital media such as photo's surely they can't take printed ones, does this amount to the same thing???

The Car - I use this for work I am obliged by my company to have a car for work use even though I own it but without it I could lose my job. Where do I stand. Can I prove this without involving my boss???

lastly the childrens computer. its not mine its in their bedroom and it is used for school work and learning. Is this fair game for a bailiff?

Thanks in advance your views would be helpful and interesting.
