Cca

Hi folks,

Been wading trough the forums and keep seeing bits about getting CCAs? Sorry to start a new thread on it but I can't seem to find one final explanation of what it's all about and I'm bit confused! I've only just started defaulting on some credit credit card debts the past couple of months and I've spoken to CCCS who've told me to offer £1 until my situation improves. On the CCA side should I be requesting these now - what are the pros and cons of it? Ta

Dont offer them any money at the moment as this will acknowledge the debt to the company. Not advocating saying the debt is not yours if you owe the money then you should pay it off.

A CCA request will enable you to receive the original signed credit agreement by yourself. If the compnay cant produce this it will be hard for them to legally enforce the debt and may well help you in being able to bargain with them on the repayments of the loan (ie lower more affordable payments)
  • If I've been paying towards these cards as I've only just got into financial difficulties, does that make it not worth doing?

YOu are best speaking to the card providers if that is who you are currently paying and telling them that you ocannot afford the repayments at the moment and asking if you can reduce the payments. A CCA request is more for when a debt is in dispute.
