Help please with Westcot

Hi there just opened up my mail with another letter from Westcot my next account was sent to them and I am now paying £55 a month to them on the 1st of every month. I have never missed a payment and stuck to the agreement however everytime I phone them they want more money from me! I opened this letter with them saying that if I can pay £270 now they will close the account, so I telephoned them to say I wish I could pay £270 however would like to stick with my original agreement and they now want me to pay £65 a month!! What are my rights with this as I am so worried that they will send a CCJ letter or something now I do not trust these companies!! Never been in this situation before and Im scared!

thanks

Stick to what you are paying now. I would also say do not pay them by debit card . It had been know for these people to take more than the agreed amount , leaving your account empty. If they have your card details I advise you to order a new card and make sure the old one is cancelled .They will say they do not accept any other method , that is not true . For such a small amount they will not take you to court . It would cost them hundreds to do that , plus you can show you have been paying a more than reasonable amount , so please do not worry . Remember also do not miss other payments such as rates etc to pay this , this is unsecured debt and should not be a higher priority then your living expenses.

Have you got in writing that they agreed to accept £55 a month from yourself for the account. DCA are bullies and they will try to get out of you what they can just stick to what you are paying dont call them or speak to them on the phone tell them you want everyting in writing so you have it for your records they are just bullies stand your ground and tell them that you will only pay what you are paying now. They wont apply for a CCJ against you as the court will see that you are making regular payments and that you have not been in default.

    So relax.

hi thanks for the advice I can still pay all my bills but think that £55 is more than reasonable to pay a month more than what my minimum payment was to next for the original account!! Not struggling paying anything else just done have a spare £270 to pay when im away to go on maternity leave and xmas is coming.

Think i will ask for everything in writing as I only have telephone conversations with them and it scares me how horrible they can be to people when you are paying them what they ask!!

    thanks again for the replies

Never speak to these people on the phone if they call just tell them you are out write to them recorded delivery asking for everything to be put in writing and telling them you wont speak on phone regarding this matter.
