Is it safe/worthwhile to use a card protection service and register all my cards?

I pay a fee (£30pa) to protect my credit card in case it is lost, stolen etc. I am wondering whether to add all my cards (storecards, debit etc) to this since I am paying for it already or should I just cancel it? I am particularly concerned about the risks of putting all my card details in one place in case the information falls into the wrong hands.
Does anyone have some good advice please?

We have a lot of cards - not just credit/debit cards, but a number of loyalty cards and it would be an enormous inconvenience to contact all the companies if our wallets were lost or stolen, quite apart from the potential risk of fraud so we use a card protection service. However, £30 p.a. seems a lot of money. We use Marks & Spencers cardsafe, and I think we pay around £33 for three years. Possibly worth Googling "Card Protection Services" to see if there are any cheaper offers around, unless there's another thread about it on this site. As to whether registering all the details with one organisation being a risk - yes, I suppose there is one but I'm not sure how you get over that.0

Hello
I know this is an old post, but there haven't been any replies to the question - just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the info held by the card protection service (whichever one) being accessed by, or even just handed over to, say, the govt and its various agencies?
Some companies will store not only credit card details, but also all other cards, insurance documents, passports, and travel / flight / hotel confirmations, etc. So that seems to be quite a chunk of personal data all pulled together in one place.
Any thoughts?0
