Tesco mis-charging question

Hello,

I am aware that if I buy an item in Tesco and find I have been overcharged for it I get a full refund AND the item for free.

Does anyone know if the same applies to internet orders?

Well I've no idea what their official policy is, but on several occasions I've either been charged incorrectly for an item I ordered online, or been sent the wrong item. Each time I simply email them to point out the mistake and I've been credited in full for the item.

So I've been keeping the item and getting a full refund.

I had a stand off with customer services in my local Tesco today. I returned an item on which I had been overcharged by £4. For some reason she had go to and get the refund "authorised" but came back and started to process it without further comment. However, she was only processing a £4 refund. When I queried this, she said that they only refund the overcharge (actually I would have been satisfied with that but there was a point of principle here). I told her that was not correct and she said it was. I then asked her why the sign on the end of her desk states clearly that if the product is charged at a higher price than that on the shelf OR THE PRODUCT (this item had a sticker on the front) then the full amount was refunded and you keep the item. She walked around the desk, read the sign and came back and amended the refund to the full amount without further comment.

Typcially for a Saturday, all the managers were "in a meeting" so I shall be writing to the branch pointing out that they are not training their staff correctly and that this is causing difficulties and embarrassment for customers.
