Jay Lenno or whatever her name is is ok, but I don't like Benjamin Fry. I doubt if he has any formal qualifications because he calls himself a 'psychological coach' or somesuch, rather than a psychologist or psychiatrist.
Correct AA.
I saw one of his minions touting for contestants on the DFW board once, and asked her directly what his qualificatiions are. She reposnded that he doesnt have any. It was over a year ago though, but the thread might stiull be there.
As someone who has done some counselling courses for my job, his approach, would certainly not pass with the BACP.
I like Jay she seems sweet, but clearly has her head up her rear when talking about paying debt back. in my REALLY tight DFW days I used to watch this regularly and once saw one episode when the *contestant * was spending a bomb on food. Jay said, Oh you dont need to do that, you can get the same buzz here- cut to borough market. She actually said "See if you spend only £3 on a loaf from here then you still get the spending buzz, but youve spent less" I inevitably shouted at the telly "you can handmake your own loaf for 50p!"
I thought recommending someone in iover 40ks worth of debt to buy loaves at £3 beggars belief TBH. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

When I first watched it I laughed at why she was allowing people to spend so much on things. However I understand her approach.
It's to get people to spend less without feeling deprived in the same way if you put a dieter on a strict diet they will go back to eating how they were before the diet within a few weeks.
So someone spending £6 on a loaf of bread would feel deprived spending 50p on one or being told they have to make one themselves, however spending £3 on one they are more likely to stick to the rest of the budget.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

But you can get some really tasty bread in the likes of Morrisons for 67p a loaf.0 -
In the days before credit cards I suspect that these people would buy from catalogues. This was the main source of credit for people. The payment was over 20 weeks - 1 shilling per pound. Clearly still a way lots of people buy because it is frequently referred to in 'The Royal Family'.
We have had 2 campers in the past and had fantastic times in them. Our last van was a high top, it did make life easier than the raising roof type. Our first Yorkie LOVED the camper. We used to go to a farm that had a few pitches. There were sheep in the field, just separated by a wire fence. The farmer didn't bother about the dog as she said the sheep wouldn't recognise him as one - cutting! In fact he made friends with a sheep and when we parked up the dog would go to the fence and woof, whereupon the sheep would run to the fence and bleat. They spent hours communicating through the fence - so funny!
We are torn about getting another as it is hard to justify the expense of two vehicles. Sigh!!0 -

LOL yes Cherrill or whoever it was bought a leather jacket, when Jim Royle asked how much it cost she said 'nothing, it came from the catalogue'!
I realised Jay Hunt didn't have much financial savvy when she told a woman in London earning £16k that she should be 'saving for a deposit'. What on, a lemonade bottle? :rotfl:'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -

My parents' border collie was scared of sheep. Her mother, a working sheepdog, would have been horrified....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I really want a camper van, (bizarre contribution to both parts of this thread alert!). A proper old school VW type 2. I'd love one of the new ones; if I ever find a competition to win one I'll enter a million times because I'll never afford to buy one!0
