How much do you live on a week?

  • £20 a week pocketmoney - except for this month where all the pocket money is gone already on presents. I wasn't into the budgeting thing in enough time to save up.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!

For 1 adult and 2 children: £25 per week stays in the bank for bills. About £10 per week for food, toiletries, cleaning products, loo rolls. £10 per week for the weekly trip to McDonalds. £12 per week for travel (no car) and about £10 per week for anything else that crops up. So thats £67 per week spent. I get £120 per week so thats £53 per week that I save. I dont have any debts anymore so I don't need to pay those off (Phew!)

My budget was £50 a week, and still is to be honest.. Thats for food, socialising, anything else I fancy, clothes/toiletries. If I didnt spend all of it, I would just "roll it over" til the next week...

Now I am debt free I am left with £1092.51 after my bills (rent, flat bills, mobile, gym) are paid, although I will have to start paying for travel from January, around £100 a month. And I really wanted to save at least £900 (the figure I was ploughing into my debt..) a month, preferably even a £1000, but the figures just dont add up and unless I get a second job, I will have to be happy with saving just £800 or something.. The whole reason I want to save as much as possible, is because I have half decided that I want to go travelling in July/August, so want to save as much as I can by then... I can cope with a few months hard graft, knowing that travelling will be my reward!!!

Sometimes its easy to stick to £50 a week, and sometimes it gets eaten up quickly!!! Especially if a night out is on the agenda, thats most of the money gone quite easily!!!

    xx

    This is really interesting!

I have about £370 per month left after paying rent and bills, and £330 off my Credit Cards. From this £370 i save £70 (for car insurance, birthdays etc...) and so am left with £300 for food and spending.

I take out £50 per week in cash, which doesn't seem like very much to me as it doesn't go very far on clothes and socialising, but it is getting easier and goes much further than it used to! The last £100 is a back-up fund, which always gets spent somehow.

So i guess i spend about £75 per week on food and me! That's plenty, i reckon. I suspect i really ought to spend more on the debts and less on me, to be honest.

I have £50 per week budget for me - I've not been out for weeks though so I'm spending nowhere near that.

I do it a bit differently, but I allow £15 a week for food, £15 a week for me (magazines, going out, treats) £20 a month for phone calls, £80 a month for petrol (two tanks).

If I have a big thing like a wedding or big night out, I budget separately for it cos now I have a lodger and a second job I have spare money!! Usually it all goes into savings though.

Hello! Very interesting to see what everybody else is trying to live in - as I suspected I think I give myself too much "pocket money" each month!

After bills, rent, gym, mobile, car costs, loan repayment (£250) I have around £800 left over. This is higher than my salary due to the huge amount of overtime I work and a couple of bonuses. I therefore give myself £500 per month spending money - food, socialising, clothes & toys! - and pay off around £300 on my credit cards.

This month I paid off £600, and there's been christmas, meaning I have about £20 a week till the New Year! I am a little worried about this, but I've been good so far!
  • After all my bills and debts have been paid i only have £20.00 per week.
This is for food and any spending over the week.
I have been spending rought £10.00 per week on food so i try to save the additional £10.00. I started this middle of last month and so far i have £30.00 put away safely in my new bank account.
I know this isnt much but over time it will increase. If i can cut down the food bill by any means then i will.

we don't really have pocket money , we have £200 a month for food , so that also covers a takeaway if we want one, but generally don't have one. my hubby has £4 a week for hockey training and £5 a week for baccy. i have £1 a week for mum and tot't group. after all bill are paid we usually have between £50 - £200 left in bank depending on husband wages. so that sits there and if anything is needed it covers it. if not needed then it goes towards a bill , or just save it.
we don't need alot to live on , and we have a very happy life without spending huge amounts of cash which is fab.
