New arrival on the way!!!

I have just found out my cousin is expecting her first baby and I am so excited for her. I want to make her a baby hamper with some essentials in and a nappy cake. She is 4 months pregnant, and I have never made anyone anything like this before and I just wanted to know when I should make them and give them to her? What size nappies do I buy? Do you think she would appreciate something for herself aswell, as mothers are often forgotten?

Thanks and sorry if this is in wrong thread I thought it was a special occasion.

xx

Hi, I got a nappy cake given to me when my first child was born. I was thrilled to bits wirh it!
There was a bottle with a lid in the centre, nappies,(not the tinniest) wrapped around, little socks tucked into the surface if you know what i mean and mittens too. There was a muslin wrapped around the outside fastened with a nappy pin.
I thought it was the so kind of the girl who did it for me, it would have been far easier to just chuck all those things in a parcel!
Only drawback was I didnt want to ruin it by using it all, but I did eventually!

You could make a nappy cake (using new born size nappies), and for mum you could do a little hamper filled with nice moisturiser.

I know after I had my two children, my friends treated me to a lunch out on them, presented to me after the birth for a date of my choice in the months following the baby. We had a great time, I didn't have to worry about taking money with me and had a great time being 'me' again. You could always use tesco clubcard deal vouchers for a restaurant.

when should i give her the nappy cake then? After the birth or before? Can you put all the baby toiletries inside the nappy cake, so its like a little hamper? Think I will definatley make her a pamper hamper for afterwards, so she can look after herself!! xx

You could give her the nappy cake just before she has the baby, then do a hamper afterwards? I personally don't put toiletries inside nappy cakes unless requested as I find it easier to use just nappies.
However I have had a request for one with toiletries and I have literally just finished making it ...
