We have similar problem....DS has joined Lego Club (fatal) and gets sent a regular magazine reminding him of all the things which ought to be on his Christmas list! Think I'm going to have to start "editing" the post.
Can you suggest to your son that if he sells some of his other toys and goes halves with you, Father Christmas might find himself able to oblige?
(Should explain, our "Father Christmas" doesn't pay for the toys, he just brings them and Mum and Dad have to provide the actual toys.......this saves unseemly rows when people go pioking about in cupboards where you hoped they wouldn't!)
The kids know we are not that rich. they are 12 and 8 so only have an endearing half-belief in Santa anyway by now!) hth0 -
Hiya
The cheapest I can get it for so far is at Woolworths through quidco as they're offering 10% with a voucher code. It's £79.99 and then 10% off that, not brilliant but i'm going to keep looking as it's what my son would really like too. Good luck xx0 -
Hi there,
Since you are all planning well ahead it might be worth looking here http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?invXrefID=110454 It is a similar format to ebay except it is only for legoMISB = mint in sealed box - the first few are listed as incomplete.
I know some lego sets can be heavy/expensive but might be worth costing up? Boxed weight on amazon comes up @ 2.9kg. Try asking a few different sellers how much p&p they would charge.
I have only used the site once (last year) to locate some impossible to find (in the UK) Dora Duplo. It was a perfect transaction but like ebay check feedback etc...
The only other thing I can think of is to leave it to the last minute, buy from amazon and then hope that they drop the price (within 30 days) and you can then claim the difference...
Good luck!
Just a thought but it is on boots.com on 3for2 - currently out of stock but if you knew of 2 other people who needed the same/or same value item within the promotion then it would work out as cheap as shipping from overseas...
*waves* hope you are well Mudbath!0 -
Thanks everyone surprising how many kids/big kids:o want this this year. I had never heard of the bricklink site so will be keeping a eye on that, thanks butterfly. My eldest son asked right out earlier in the year if Santa was real he is 9 so I thought it best to tell the truth. prob is his little bro is 4 so I'm working hard to keep the magic alive. Thanks also Mudbath forgot quidco for Woolworth's new to that and often forget to check for cash back, do you know how long the Woolworth's voucher is valid?
Good luck to all my fellow MSEs if I find a good deal for this I will post here so we can share the Xmas love
HO HO HO Merry Christmas:santa2:0 -
Hiya
It's valid until the 31st October and i'm not sure if you get the 6% quidco cashback too. I'm undecided whether to get it yet or wait to see if I can get it cheaper. Decisions decisions! xx0 -
Does it have to be lego?
My son is crazy on lego star wars and also just star wars! Mainly the lego side of it though, however a couple of months ago we picked up a replublic gunship reduced to £10 it is not the lego version but does retail at £30. Argos had it in the sale due to a damaged box! the
This is ours ...
Argos currently selling them for £7.49 less than half price link here:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3873818/Trail/searchtext%3EGUNSHIP.htm
You could then spend a little more on some figures for him ... even lego figuresRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Very hard to get these particuar Lego figures except by buying the set, I think, which is probably why there are incomplete sets available on the auction sites..........
.
(Wish I could similarly persuade DD that she doesn't HAVE to have Converse, they're only plimsolls!)0 -
The problem with the sets is that the characters sell very well on ebay so I guess people buy them and sell teh characters on? Not really sure but I was looking for just lego figures and struggled!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0
