bank acc blocked

we have just discovered in the last hour that we cant access funds in our main acc ...tax credits went in today so its a fair bit of money.

info on the acc says "enquiry account".

we have just joined cccs and i am presuming they have blocked it for this reason as we have a £4000 overdraft on it and always in the overdraft.

any experiences on this or what i can do to resolve it?

  • From what i have read on previous threads they are not allowed to put you into a position where you have no money for food etc. Tax credits are a necessity and i would think that they should give you them..i am sure someone who has better knowledge of this will be along..I would also ring them and the cccs preferably the latter first so you have some ammo.

    Hi
Not sure but I'm guessing that if you are using your overdraft then this would be included as a debt in your dmp.

Did they not recommend that you open a new account when you contacted them?

Sorry, don't mean to come across as being blunt but CCCS normally recommend you open a new bank account.

yes you are right....and yes we did change bank account but thats all just finally cleared now because it was alot of faffing about. we first went with abbey but they gave us overdrafts so that was cancelled and we went to rbos and its only in hte last week or so its finally sorted out. so until that was sorted i didnt want to go ahead and give out new acc nos .
  • thanks for replying bored and princess..much appreciated

what i am going to do is contact cccs in the morn but one of my thoughts were to go into bank and see whats ahppening and get enough money back for food and petrol.
  • I think you will get some of your money out, someone should explain it at the bank..but check out the website of cccs first to see if there is anything about it.

    Good luck Bob x
