Hmmm Old debt, application form error and now a CCJ

Hi there
This is my first post so a big hello from me.
I am hoping the people on this board can help me with a debt issue I have.
Back in September 06 I took out finance with Goldsmith on an engagement ring. The ring cost approx £2600 of which I paid £2000 in cash and took the remaining balance of £600 on interest free over 10 months.
When the repayments were due to come out I noticed that in fact no money had come out of my account. I called Goldsmith to enquire why and was told that had no record of the account. The woman I spoke with said to wait until I hear from them before paying anything as she didnt know what was outstanding.
I never heard anything to be totally honest forgot about it. Anyway I just applied for a credit card and was declined and adter signing up to CreditExpert noticed that a CCJ had just been registered against me. It was for £876.05 from the firsm that own Goldsmiths. I just contacted them and despite the application form having all of my contact details and correct bank details it was not signed.
Due to the CCJ having 7 days left before being paid off without impacting on my credit file I paid what was outstanding. The £876.05 was made up of the £600 and the rest was charges and interest.
I have asked for a copy of the application form and they said they no longer have it so how can I prove that all my contact details were correct. The fact it wasnt signed must be the fault of the store.
As I said I have paid the full amount to the debt recovery department in order to cancel the CCJ but want the interest refunded by Goldsmith.
Do I have any chance at all of recovering this debt? Seems ironic that they have recovered a debt from me and now I am looking to do the same back to them...
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks
Iain
