    Hiya,

I know you say groceries aren't a priority but the more you save there the more you can use for your debts.

It really doesn't take much to cut down, and as the supermarket says 'every little helps'!

I used to spend ages in the supermarket (I know, I'm a loser) comparing prices and making sure that I go the best deal on everything! I also cook everything from scratch as it saves SO much money! I managed to get down to £12 per week in my tightest days!

    Good luck

    Heya,

Im 19 and also in debt! PM me if you wanna chat!

One thing I noticed you could cut down on would be your food bill - if you pop over to the moneysaving old style board there are loadsa tips on eating cheaply.

ps; im just about to post my SOA as im in deep ..... !

    Hi girls,

well done on getting yourselves on here and facing up to the problems. Im 20 and in the situation but have started to turn things around over the last few months so PM me if you want to chat more.

Do you have any unwanted items that you can sell on Ebay? Get yourselves an Amazon account and list all of your unwanted books/dvds/videos/cds on there, its much quicker than ebay and all extra little bits of money help to throug them at your debts.

Are you members of Mystery Shopping Sites and sites such as Quidco?

Id recommend setting up a spending diary either on the computer or by hand - write down every penny you spend, & i mean EVERY PENNY! Once you do this you will be amazed at where your money is going when you dont even realise.

All this may seem allot to take in but once you well and truly have your Money Saving head on, it all comes second nature - honest.

Can either of you get part-time bar/glass coillector work? It usually either pays cash in hand/card and most places pay you weekly. 2 nights a week can bring you an extra 60+ a week and if they let you keep your tips you can be making even more. Places will definatly start to need staff (even if its only temporary) coming up to the busy Christmas Period.

I would contact them and explain see if you can come to an arraingement with them. Also call one of the Debt charities and get some advice.

I hope you don't mind me posting. I'm not in debt, but only because my parents have helped me out from time to time.

If you post what you plan to do to try and get to the end of the month, can you see any way to pay those scary one month loans even without a full payment to Littlewoods? (their website has a number you should phone if you're having difficulty paying - much better than not contacting them and not paying the expected amount).

Sorry, what I'm trying to say is that it would be a very good idea to ask your family for help and also tell your boyfriend what is happening. If he can help you over the next 2 or 3 months you'll be able to pay him back (maybe with the help of some extra work in the evenings) so you won't be leaving him short. That way you'll be able to avoid crazy interest rates and get back on your feet that bit sooner.

Phoning one of the debt charity professionals sounds like a very good idea too.

    Good luck!

    Hello!

I have spoken to my boyfriend finally, we are going to pay the 1 month loans off together at the end of this month. We're getting a refund of £122.45 from Scottish Power which he has said we can use towards it.

I've done my budget for November and I think I will have around £150 to put towards it. I paid £105 off one of those loans today and they agreed I can pay £100 end of October and its settled. I think OH will just need to contribute £150ish and its settled.

I know I am over the limit with my credit card, I've paid the minimum payment anyway and I was going to see if they'll freeze the account so I can pay it off.

Littlewoods I am going to phone over the weekend and see if I can pay say a minimum of £25 a month.

Its just this holiday that’s worrying me. I'l lhave to be SO tight over the next two months to try and scrape money together.

The only form of relief is the fact that hopefully I will get a £250 bonus at the end of this month and if I work VERY hard this month I'd get a £500 bonus end of Nov.. In fact if I work hard EVERY month I'll hopefully get the £500…would solve a lot of problems

    Hi

Well done for talking to BF. you need to get rid of those payday loans, because you have a chance of sortin gthings out once they are gone.

Please fo back to the previous suggestions

    1. Get together stuff that you can sell, e-bay, amazon (for CDs and DVDs) and car boot - there used to be a big one every few weeks near Pannal.

You may find some of the stuff is still at your folks, clogging up the cupboards and loft?

Get some part-time work in the run up to Christmas.

And please sling those catalogues - they may have no APR but they are a very expensive way of buying stuff. Really you do not need more clothes if you have been buying that amount of stuff recently. If you HAVe to get anything other than underwear, given where you are have good ferret in the charity shops.

Or organise a clothes swap with mates?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Hi,

I need help. I don't know how to deal with this and at the moment I'm doing an Ostrich.

I am 19, silly me left home got into a bit of debt. Yes ok its not as much as some of you might have but I am still rather stressed.

    Capital one debt about £550
Little woods around £600 payments usually around 100 or 200
Second month into welcome finance. Pay £136.06 for 24 months so its over 3 grand
    1monthloan £195
    Quickquid £350

I earn 1013.13 per month after tax and did a debt calculator and im about 70 over what I can afford to pay. Also these 1 month loans….was desperate but bad idea.

Not enough debt for an IVA, neither would I want one. I don't know what to do

If you contact welcome and tell them your situation, they can do a rewrite for you, which means any payments you miss will go at the end of your contract(e.g instead of finishing in 2 years you finish in2yrs 6 months), you can also tell them the maximum you can pay (i said £40) for the time being until your financial situation improves, they will moan, but persist and they will do it, at the end all they want is some money.
As for the others, with capital one, next wages just pay them in full, because you can use that money again :) (some of it will go as interest, but if you keep paying on time for about 4 months they will increase your limit)
But if you can pay off your 1 monthloan in one hit, then aim for quickquid.
All lenders are willing to compromise if you tell them your struggling, after all it is better you pay something then nothing at all (YOU MUST TELL THEM THAT IT WILL ONLY BE FOR A FEW MONTHS,SAY8 MONTHS TILL YOU GET YOURSELF TOGETHER,by then you should have nearly paid everyone)
