Easi Yo - Yoghurt Maker

Sorry if this is on the wrong bit, it is my first new thread post.

I have just ordered and Easi Yo yoghurt maker and just wondered if there is any one who has one of these and how they find it.

I thought it might save me some money on yoghurt

Thanks

  • I was given one of these by my mother. I only buy Easiyo yogurt sachets when they are half price in Julian Graves, if they are not I make my own yogurt in it. I don't have an airing cupboard to use, so this comes in handy for me. Otherwise...................................don't think it's a saving! But if you've paid for it, use it and recoup some of the cost.

I probably disagree re costings-I never buy any of the sachets-if you have a look on the old style board you'll see some great advice on flavourings etc-plonk 'easi yo' in the search engine.. I've only needed to buy a pot of live yoghurt once in 6 months-since then I've kept back some as a starter for the next batch-even keep about 3 tablespoons in the freezer just in case the kids dip in when I'm not looking. I use semi skimmed UHT milk to save the hassle of boiling and cooling milk, 3 tablespoons semiskimmed milk powder as this helps to thicken it and about 3 tablespoons of the live yoghurt. This makes up about a litre of yoghurt for the price of the milk and milk powder (I suppose around £1ish) which if you equate with supermarket prices....

It is handy not to worry about maintaining a temperature-I set it up and pop it on top of the fridge and about 8-10 hours later it's ready.

You can then spice it up with honey, fruit etc to your taste-my children love honey in theirs. Enjoy experimenting!!

As a top-tip, if you have a dog/puppy don't allow him to get at the un-opened easiyo packets. They make an awful mess when being played with, a bigger mess sometime later when thrown up, and as for the mess when the inevitable diarrhea kicks in the day after...you don't even want to think about it. Thank goodness for insurance....
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...
