Re-mortgage to Nationwide - Buildings Insurance

Just a quick question I am re-mortgaging from Alliance Leciester to Nationwide the solicitor has asked me to get my buildings insurance changed so that I put the interest of Nationwide Building Society to be added to the policy. Is this common?

I never had to do this when I was with Alliance Leicester.

Since Alliance Leicester would be the interested party up to the point of the re-mortgage which is going to happen on the 2nd January 2009, how would this work. I don't think Alliance and Leicester would be happy if I made Nationwide the interested party from now. The solicitor is asking for this insurance change from me now.

  • Nationwide will always ask to be noted on the policy. You can ask your insurance provider to write a letter stating that they will note Nationwide on the policy as from 2nd Jan to overcome the timer period.
  • Thanks Hness1974 I never knew they required to be added but now I know :)
