It's very different to the early 90's where we didn't have internet isn't it?

I remember buying my first flat in 1990 when my interest rate was 14% and my mortgage was around £38k. When it all went wrong we just didn't have the information that is around currently; the internet.

It's amazing that hourly we are able to check all of this stuff and I think that is adding to the panic. People still managed to get out of debt and buy another property. I did.

It will be tough but I think many of us need to stop reading about everything so much and take up fishing/golf/embroidery or something instead of reading.

What will happen will happen. I have just read the whole scenario about Martin Lewis being to 'blame' for the Iceland thingy and had to laugh as he is no more to blame than the wilsons in Croydon or wherever they are.

Sending good thoughts to you all and will take up the quilting that I planned to do 8 years ago and NOT keep reading about the doom and gloom.

Reading and commenting is a massive improvement on what happened in previous times when it was far too simple for the media outlets to control opinion.

No doubt many governments would like to control the internet.

I know Tom, but you could send yourself absolutely barking mad by reading about it all of the time. I sit here and get really stressed and it's not right really. There is not anything any of us can do. :o
  • Isn't knowledge power?

So empowering the people is a bad thing?

Let the "old boys' networks", vested interests, and those already rich enough to have fully managed portfolios, have the benefit of early notice of problems to switch to alternatives...?

    Yes, that sounds fair.

I do agree but I worry about the amount of information we have access to. You can be on one forum and then another and another and it's all burn out.

We will all end up with Yuppie flu like they did in the 90's;)

If, we had access to all of this information also, why did so many people not research these things. Why was there such a rush to accummulate wealth??

The way I see it, as long I can afford to eat and stay warm then I can cope and I'm a passenger on board a vessel that's going who knows where. Sometimes you've just got to let fate pan out.

  • If the internerd is so great and we have so much power how come we still have a government that wastes more of our tax than at any time in history?

And at a time when we are more taxed than at any time in history!

The internerd is the PUB of the 2000's we sit here hate our leaders, moan about them all night................... and do nothing. The only thing that has changed is we aint sharing a pint at the same time.

    great Britain.........my @rse

Well, at least we can agree on that anyway. Doing something has to wait until a general election, though there are some bye elections on the way.

    Human greed.

And if you learn one thing from participating in internet forums, it's that there are plenty of people who don't even seem to be on the same planet as the rest of us. No amount of facts or argument can dissuade them from their preconceived opinions.

Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.

Possibly, the internet increases the rate at which things move, hence sharper decline in house prices this time around?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
