Hi there
this is my first post on here. i am 25 years old and a few months ago i opened up to my father about my dept situation (nearly 26,000 owing including interest i estimate).
ive been on the cccs website and spent one whole day redialling the number but the one time it did rang i panicked worrying i might be judged.
since then ive made a note of outgoings interest rates etc..... to let them know.
for me its hard to do, admitting to mistakes ive made.

You're not the only one who feels like that. Hundreds of people phone debt help centres for help when things get out of control.
You've made the important steps by telling your father and by attempting to phone. Don't worry, the people answering won't be judgemental, they wouldn't be doing that job if they were. Anyway it's not as if you know them or can see them so that should help.
Have another go at it, you'll feel so much better once they tell you how to get things sorted out.

Everyone makes mistakes in life - its what we do after is what defines the person we are. Good luckThere is no need to run outside

"The person who never made a mistake never made anything"
Absolutely ALL my significant learning came from mistakes
Keep talking - Dad can help (if he is like me he will WANT to) - Dad's feel pain as well you know but until you ask it can be hard to find a way to help.
You have made a good start by facing reality - take care the tough decision is made

Call me naive but I didn't expect them to be judgemental, and of course they are not. But they are very knowedgeable, professional, and efficient - they have to be efficient as there are more and more of us taking up their services.0

CCCS has just started thier online system, you log-in and check all your accounts, and every month they go down! :A
I know what you feel like ringing them, trust me and all the rest on this fourm,

Debtfreedetermined,
Trust me - Give them a call. They helped me see the wood for the trees and now I am on the path to recovery.
It is very hard to admit that you have made a mistake, but now you have recognised the problem, you have taken the first step to recovery.
Be steadfast and stick with it, pick up the phone and call them you have nothing to lose and everything to gain, including your self esteem and your sanity.
Good luck! There are many paths to tread to find true financial enlightenment, some of them are clear of obstacles, others have huge piles of doggie DooDoo in them in which one can easily tread. The journey is not made easier by the fact that the financial institutions blind fold us before we set out on our route.

i think when people call cccs they are likely to feel bad because it requires them to admit there is a problem and in some cases the problem was caused by their own mistakes, attitude to money or lack of budgeting skills. however, mistakes teach people valuable lessons which can (if they want) change the path of their whole life.
ok you're 20k in debt but you're only 25 and you have time on your side. also you seem to have a good supportive network- cccs, father etc- who can help you sort out the issue. there are loads of entries on this forum where people have had a large cloud lifted after speaking to cccs. sometimes you're so tied up in the situation you can't see the way out- you need an objective point of view.0
