Constant letters from Lowell Financial!!!

Hi,
I have been getting constant letters from Lowell Financial regarding a credit card debt from years ago, i think it was from 2003, not too sure though.
They always say they have been instructed by their client Lowell Portfolio Ltd to recover the debt, and that i should contact them ASAP to either send payment in full, or to agree a method of payment.
I got another letter on the 1st Oct saying that from 7 days of the letter, they intend to instruct their legal department to review the account and may involve applying for a Couny Court Judgement!.
I do know about the debt, i have always worked away from home and never really got round to making the payments!
I have recently just been made redundant so cany afford to pay this, is it true that the debt is wiped off after 6 years?
Can anyone let me know what i should do, and how i should respond back to Lowell?
Thankyou.

Hi
It might be worth sending them a CCA request and see what they come back with. This may delay any legal action from them until they supply you with the info you requested and buy you a bit of time.
Someone with more experience will be along shortly.
Just wanted to say hello and welcome.
