Need To Lose Weight

You are SO lucky to be nice and tall!! I kid you not, this may seem VERY important to you now but a few years down the line you might well look back at photos of yourself and think "I really was OK then!".;)
I hear this time & time again from people who say "I have battled with my weight all my life". I look back at photos too and I am amazed that I ever even felt overweight. I looked great if I say so myself!!:o
Try and enjoy being young, tall and healthy. Take plenty of exercise and get masses of fresh air. Cut out all the junk, learn all you can about healthy eating and try not to stress about it.
I would advise any young person to not even THINK about diets because you just hop from one to the other for years and get disheartened.
At the end of the day, we all know healthy eating and exercise are the key and all things in moderation!!0 -

my dd is nearly 14 and is 5 7 and she weighs 11 stone and is a size 12. she thinks that she is fat because she reads thise stupid magazines with nicole richie ect in them. She is constantly on a diet and wants to e a size 10 which i know would make her look gaunt. size 12 to 14 is NOT FAT it is a lovely size to be especially when you are young and need proteins ect to help build your body for later life. xx
thnx for the support ive realised i only need to lose a lil bit now my target is around 10 stone0 -
If this is genuine.......
I am 5'5", almost 11st, and size 14. I could do with losing about 7lb but I am a lot older than you and a bit extra weight comes with my age so I'm not stressed about it.
You are 5'7", 11st 6lbs, size 12/14, you want to lose weight. 3-4lbs a week is too much, 1-2lbs is the better way BUT
To be 8st and size 8 at 5'7" you will be like a stick bean, that is not slim, that is thin.
You are a young teenager. You have not yet finished growing. If you eat sensibly and healthily your body will grow as it should for you personally - we all are a certain body type and nothing you do will change that body type.
The way you are talking makes me think that you just want to follow the crowd, be fashionable, be like the size zeros that have recently been in the news. That is not healthy and if you start slimming seriously now you will more than likely end up having a weight problem for the rest of your life, yo-yo dieting or even end up anorexic.
Be sensible. Be yourself. Forget trying to be like anyone else. Follow a healthy way of eating. Forget dieting and concentrate on your schoolwork and be that special person that others look up to.
as ive sed i realise 8 stone is like a stick
the only reason i set myself that weight target was cos evry1 else weighs around that much but im taller so i shud weigh more

Hello SS,
Your plan does seem a bit extreme, size 8 is very small I'm glad you've realised it's a bit of a crazy target! I'm 5'4 and and I look best at a 12-14 - when I was smaller than that I was just like a stick - dresses look far better on me with a nice pair of boobs to fit in them! (I'm quite a bit larger at the minute at a size 16-18!)
A guy who worked at a gym I used to go to said that your wrists are a good indication of how thin you should be - feel your wrist bones and how much flub is over them - now I've started saying that I can't actually remember exactly what he used to say... never mind!
But 3-4lbs is a lot to lose in a week, the healthy aim is around 1-2lbs - otherwise you stress your body too much. As you are so young (Exams I'm guessing around15/16?) you don't want to put your body at risk of serious problems in the future, them bones have gotta last you a long time! I'm a teacher working in a school (only 24 years old though) and my tutor group are year 12. It's scary hearing some of the girls in my year 12 tutor group talking about how much weight they want to lose, when they are gorgeous as they are. Do you do any sport? - a few hours of swimming a week will change your body beyond recognition and if you eat relatively healthily anyway you might find you don't need to do the diet thing!
xThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -
when i was in school and your age I weighed a little bit less than you but i'm the same height.. I always thought I was fat back then as all the popular girls were size 8/10 and I was a size 12/14 so i started yo yo dieting and I'm now a shocking 14 stone at age 22. Looking back at my school photos I think I looked really nice to be honest. Please do not wreck your figure by yo-yo dieting and trying to lose too much too soon!
PS :- im using my OH's account before anyone accuses me of having a split personality disorder too hehe0
