Veg Boxes

Options
Where abouts can I find out if there is anywhere local that does veg box deliveries? The supermarket veg thread got me thinking that we are another family that have stopped by fresh veg from the supermarket because of how quickly it goes off  We've taken to buying frozen but its not as nice is it

I use abel and cole. They deilver to quite a wide area and sell an extensive range of groceries:

or you could try Riverford Organics:

or look here for other local companies: http://www.bigbarn.co.uk/producers

  • Abel and Cole also give £10 cashback for first order via quidco.

    We use Riverford (riverford.co.uk).

Again very good (they actually seem to work out cheaper than the supermarket)

There is a postcode finder on their site that tells you if they deliver near you.

Everyone has their favourite, but if you search for abel&cole on here, lots of people seem to have had bad experiences.
  • Another thumbs up from me for riverford or in my case rivernene, part of the same family.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

We use Riverford as well and have been very pleased with the quality of their meat and vegetables.

Although the Free Medium Organic Box when spending over £15 offer is no longer available http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1188111 the quidco offer is... £10 cashback for new customers who place an order within 7 days of setting up their account as Notlongnow says above. Plus if you refer someone you can also get £10.

I've just received my first delivery using the offer above and am really impressed with the amount - can't comment on the quality yet...

I have just posted a new code for Abel & Cole - get a free fruit & veg box when you spend £15 or more (link below)

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1209925ave

New customers only, expires 30th November. you can still go through Quidco or Cashbackkings and get £10 cashback too!

A bargain - I got a free box the other week - there was a good selection of fruit & veg, and it tasted much nicer than the stuff you get in the supermarkets.
  • There is a local shop in Brighton that delivers locally a £5 and £10 box of fruit/veg and salad. We have the £5 every week and it is by far the best value. ALways has...
pots, carrots, onions, apples, oranges, one other fruit (banana/plums/satsuma) toms, cucumber, spring onions, pepper, celery, broc/cauli, plus either various winter veg (parsnip, suede etc) or summer things (lettuce/cress/raddish)

Sometimes different quantities maybe 4 or 7 potatoes or 2 or 4 onions depending on the rest of the box. Most of it is organic and comes with soil on or not 100% perfect (sometimes the cucumber isn't straight or the carrots are small or odd shape.) The £10 box has double the amount.

Not sure of the phone number but the shop is in Poets Corner by Stoneham Park.

    HIGHLY RECOMENDED!

Wonderbetty- The veg box sounds great in Brighton, any ideas on what the store is called? I live fairly close to that and intrigued as I've never heard of it!
