Most romantic / spectacular engagement proposal..any ideas ?

I have searched the net and I cant seem to locate any really inspiring ideas …

So my original idea was to take her away to Paris for the weekend and either propose on the top of the Eiffel tower or inside the top restaurant ….. However we booked the trip together and we have already chosen her ring together … so she is / was expecting the proposal in Paris … and although that would be special.. it wont be one of those totally unexpected heart pounding moments which is what I want , I want her to go weak in the knees :T

Now, my other though (and this is only a thought) due to the fact that she loves theater, I was going to arrange for her and friends to attend say dirty dancing or phantom of the opera and then after the show is finished “some how” get her to come on stage and then propose :D ……but I cant seem to get in touch with the right people to make this happen

Anyway ….. I just though maybe there are some MSE’ers that might be able to give me some inspirational ideal .. or tips :T

Andy advice greatly appreciated

    Congratulations.

If you are flying to Paris - then you could do the proposal on the plane (speak to the airline and let them know - you never know they may just upgrade you to business class and offer you some free champagne).

Wow you seem so sweet, I wish my OH had done something special when he proposed to me. I have always like the sound of like a treasure hunt type theme with some clues etc and they lead to the proposal, but that would take alot of time and then you still have to think of an exciting way to propose. Best of luck with it all though. Sorry I cant be of anymore help.

You've chosen a ring together, but she's still waiting to be asked??

    Anyway...
I proposed on leap day this year. I cooked one of his favourite meals, dessert, coffee... Then, presenting him with a rather nice watch, I proposed using "Love Heart" sweets as follows:
I WANT U, ONLY YOU, IT'S LOVE, REAL LOVE, I LOVE YOU, WILL YOU, BE MINE, ALL MINE, YOU AND I, FOR KEEPS.
Then just to make sure he understood, I said "Will you marry me?"

It worked for me... He said yes! :heartpuls

There is a "MARRY ME" sweet too, but I didn't manage to find one in the six large packs that I searched through. He did later say though that he was glad, as he'd preferred to hear me say it. :blushing:

xtreme I am sure she will be happy whenever you do it, if you have already booked the paris trip tbh I wouldnt go booking another theatre night, and she knows its going to happen anyway, as you have picked the ring and booked the trip then she knows its just round the corner

I would go with the original idea, if you do something else she may say why have you changed it, she wanted it to be at the top of the effiel tower

however i think you are very sweet for thinking about this :A

    Hi All

we both know that we are going to get married , as we have been speaking about it for a while now , and she made it clear that the ring she wanted is extremely unique , so we just designed one and got it made ..and its awesome ;-)

so many great ideas so little time ....... ;-)

How about going ahead with the Eiffel Tower thing, but timing it so that as you ask all the twinkly lights go on (this happens for ten minutes on the hour after dusk), if you want to be a perfectionist about it I suppose you'd need to synch your watch with it!
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

is she the kind of person who wouldn't mind getting dragged up on stage in front of hundreds of strangers? I know that I would HATE it and personally I think it is a bit tacky but then again my hubby proposed at Euro Disney and that might be considered tacky to some !

Eiffel Tower sounds wonderful to me, does she like the horse and carriage trips, you could get nice and cosy under a blanket and get the 'driver' to pick a romantic spot for you to 'do the deed', the pop open the champers !:kisses2:

hey Frugallass , funnily enough she is a HUGE Disney fan and has been asking me to take her there for ages .... i just didn't think that doing a romantic proposal would be easily do-able ... but i recon that i am leaning towards the Eiffel tower idea , with maybe trying to arrange something special at the top or bottom .....

i also think that the horse and carriage idea would be spectacular ,,,, hmm so many ideas ....
