B****y Nationwide!

Why are people so incompetent? I allowed 3 months to get my mortgage rearranged as the 2 year fixed deal was coming to an end. My nice advisor found me a 3 year fixed deal (glad I did now) with Abbey and set it all in motion. Things stalled a bit when I had to phone 4 times to get hold of the questionnaire thingy, but it turned out to be just 1 page (the previous one was the size of War and Peace and incredibly hard to understand). I asked for a 1 October completion. Rang the solicitors on 2nd to be told it hadn't completed as Nationwide hadn't sent the redemption statement but they would prompt for it. I got mine last Friday, rang the solicitors again yesterday, and Nationwide STILL hasn't sent it to them. For Gods sake, they can't exactly be very busy in the mortgages office can they? Now of course I'm having to find an extra £7 + every day for interest, and I bet a pound to a penny I shall end up paying my mortgage twice this month, once to each of the Abbey and Nationwide. If I was that bad at my job I'd be sacked, but this can't be bothered attitude seems to be endemic in offices involved with house buying. When I first bought my house I must have phoned 20 times on the day of completion to find out what was going on as the money hadn't transferred.
Waahhhh - rant over!

You are having a laugh. You think what has happened to you is bad....look at other people who can't get a mortgage.
Nationwide will issue red figs by e-mail if my memory serves me correctly, or at least by fax. I can get a red statement in my hands within 5 minutes of calling themI am a Mortgage Adviser
You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser Code of Conduct. Take advice with a pinch of sea salt!0 -
If you have used an advisor why haven't they managed your application instead of you having to do all the chasing?

Hello Toughluck
The Nationwide WERE supposed to be faxing it to my solicitor but they obviously could't work the machine.
Of course I'm sorry for people who can't get a mortgage right now - they are paying a high price for the greed of the lenders, but at least the rental market is in their favour right now. Unfortunately, I was only able to buy my house because my father died. Given the choice, I'd rather have my Dad back. I had to rent for 20 years because being a single person I couldn't possibly raise enough on my own, but did I go around moaning about that? So kindly don't stick a knife in me for no reason.0 -
Oh well never mind. I have always found Nationwide the best lender in the country. I just must be you.I am a Mortgage Adviser

A good adviser should have explained the process, and whether this was likely, and what effect its really has ( you don't lose out as I bet both lenders charge on a daily basis)
I do hope your adviser was a really " nice adviser" and told you about the NW loyalty 3 yr fixed rates they were offering to people who wanted a rate swap - no remtg process required.Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0
