Just met someone with 5 jobs...

..so I wondered about others.

This lady had 5 'proper' jobs; postie, courier, part time bar job, self employed hairdresser and taxi driver. Not to mention selling stuff on ebay and amazon and doing car boots! All so that she can pay off her debts and mortgage and retire at 50. She will deserve every minute of it!

That's the most I've ever come across, can anyone do any better?

Makes my full time job and one part time bar job look a bit tame by comparison!

On the Scottish Island of Ghia, there was a Mr Seamus McSporran (that was his real name) who held 14 jobs on the island until he retired.

'It's the island life for me'

From the Northern Echo, first published Thursday 21st Mar 2002.

"SEAMUS McSporran, gloriously named and extravagantly bearded, was long extolled in the Guinness Book as Britain's hardest worker - none of the six days shalt about Seamus.
His 14 jobs - sub-postmaster, guest house owner, special constable, fireman, ambulanceman, store keeper, petrol pump attendant, insurance agent, rent collector, school bus driver, piermaster and one or two others now mentally sidelined - occupied him 15 hours a day, 365 days a year."

He got a British Empire medal for his hard work. Anyone want to try and beat his record?

  • Most I've done is 1 full time, 2 part time & 1 casual job at the same time & that left me completely knackered after about 4 months.

I got 1 full time job that paid the same as all of those after a bit of overtime but I couldn't have carried on much longer even if I hadn't got the better job.

I've currently got 3 jobs and work 7 days a week (office job, part time teacher of adults, AQA), plus the teaching preparation which is almost a job in itself at the moment which I don't get paid for. I also do some mystery shopping.

    :hello: Blimey!

Mr McSporran (Really???????? That's his real name????? :rotfl: )makes me feel like a lazy sack O' spuds!

I only have my daytime office job, My part time ad hoc book keeping / secretarial job, my evening and weekend restaurant job, my babysitting, my eBay shop and mystery shopping.

Plus the occasional bit of cooking, cleaning, laundry and shopping... :D

And I already feel as if I don't have time for sleep most weeks!:o

    I know, I know, compared to Seamus I'm a total lightweight! :D

I'm just keeping our household afloat - but it seems like he was responsible for a whole blimmin Island!!

I met Mr McSporran in his wee shop when I visited Ghia years ago. He wasn't harrassed at all, very pleasant. There's a nice wee pub there so maybe that's why the inhabitants were so chilled out!
