Letter to Credit Card companies

I'm sure I read somewhere on this site about a letter you send to your Credit Card suppliers, along with a postal order for £1, to get something back which you then check and if doesn't meet some criteria you can get your credit card debt written off. Does that ring a bell with anyone?
If so, can someone explain the details as I, (rather obviously), don't have a clue about it. Or point me in the right direction on the site.
Anything that I can do to shorten my DMP would help.
I found the "Reclaiming credit card charges" bit but can't find the above.
Many thanks:o

Anyone?
I think it was the Terms and Conditions you ask for?0 -
I've just re-read my first post - I meant the Payment Protection money, not the credit card balance (that would be nice but I can't see it somehow).

Hi
I'm assuming you mean the CCA request? I'm not good with links but I'm sure someone will be along soon with the letter.
Send it recorded delivery with £1.00 PO and they have 12+2 days to comply with your request and should hold off any action until they have supplied a valid agreement.
Good luck.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

I have just sent CCA requests to 3 debt collection agencies for 5 of my debts CK Edrupt, Fredrickson and Morrcroft. I have enclosed £1 cheques and given them 12 days to provide copy of contract and deed of assignment. What happens next what do you do if they do respond? carry on paying? What do you do if they dont respond? Is the debt immediately written off or do you have to apply somewhere to someone for it to be officially written off? this is a new one im trying so not sure how this works? anyone...... cheersMY Successes = RBS PPI, RBS bank charges, Aqua PPI, Aqua cc charges, HFC PPI, Welcome Finance PPI, Blackhorse PPI Mums Ongoing= Swift Advances PPI, London Scottish PPI, Blackhorse chgs, GE money pyts missing

The debts won't be written off. If the Collection agencies cannot provide the CCA, then all that means is that they cannot legally enforce the debt - they can still pursue it though.WARNING!Alcohol can make you think you are more interesting and attractive than you actually are.....0 -
So what's the point of going through all that then if they still go after you for the debt - surely you've just wasted another £1 that could have gone towards the debt anyway? I am confused now too seems like its a bit pointless. If the creditor does not reply with the deed of assignment and copy of the contract as requested whats the next step? who do you go to next about getting rid of the debt? I want rid of the debt and the phone calls thats why i was pursuing this avenue........ help anyone? Has anyone done this before and got a good result?MY Successes = RBS PPI, RBS bank charges, Aqua PPI, Aqua cc charges, HFC PPI, Welcome Finance PPI, Blackhorse PPI Mums Ongoing= Swift Advances PPI, London Scottish PPI, Blackhorse chgs, GE money pyts missing

Payment protection can be claimed back if it has been mis-sold, yes.
CCA is something totally different. It is basically asking them to provide a copy of the original credit agreement, usually done when a DCA (debt collection agency) has bought the debt and is hounding the debtor. Your question was about the former though so I reckon the place you need to go on the forum is in here:
