Any ideas on what I can dress my son as for Halloween to save me going out and spending a fortune on a costume had a look on ebay but costumes seem quite expensive and really not too original.
Any ideas on how I could do it myself, though please understand my artistic abilites are quite limited. lol xx

You could dress him in orange and paint his face all orange and go as a pumpkin.0

What about get an old white sheet and cut out 2 holes for eyes and if needed cut the bottom for length and he can be a ghost. Really cheap and can be binned after. xx0/2013

Really depends what you have in the house.
Have you tried Homebargains or Asda or cheap ready made?
What about an old and slightly too big coat (if he has an older sibling) with a rolled up towel for a hump. Put his hood up and maybe scary make-up? Good old Quasy.
Black clothes and red cape if you have a red blanket or sheet
for Dracula.
Dressing gown for a mad monk.
draw stitches on his forehead for frankenstein's monster, with old clothes you can 'rag' a little at the feet and wrists.0 -
I need to dress my two boys to go to a Halloween themed birthday party at the end of the month.
I saw lots of dress up bits in Asda yesterday - quite cheap but I thought some of them were quite scary looking, not sure I want my wee boys in those sort of costumes!
Like the sheet idea, thanks! If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
I seen a home made rubix cube costume it was amazing looking and it was only made from a cardboard box, some coloured card and some black tape and she was wearing black leggings and polo neck.buzzzzz:D:money:0

I would do a black jumper with 4 black socks stuffed and attached to the jumper, worn with black trousers and you have a spider0

If you are not arty then the sheet ghost sounds like the easiest option.Use a black marker to draw round the eye holes, draw on a scary mouth shape like the scream masks, some cobweb and spiders either drawn on or stuck on and he will look great, give him a chain to rattle for scary sound effects too..
Costumes are easier than you may think though, what does he like, dress him as his fav character.A box, some tinfoil and toilet roll tubes and he could be wal-e."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
As you don't want anything to scary, go with the sheet ghost idea but do a happy smiley face, see the sort of face for the snowman on the Lightbulb thread0

When my son was litle he didn't want to dress up in a Halloween costume so I made a bat headress out of black card.
I just drew the bat, put the features on in silver pen, cut it out and stapled it to a black card band. It looked really good as the wings flapped when he walked along.
Why not make a wizards hat out of black card, or get a pair of pyjamas with a skeleton on that he could use after?0
