Does anyone know if there are any free online SMS/texts

Hi everyone

I have an o2 account but they only offer limited number of free SMS texts, I did search online for other sites, but all having advertising and the last thing I want to be doing when sending a free text is to give mobile numbers for companies to bombard my friends with premium texts- (as I dont think anyone will appreciate premium SMS's :D)

Thanks in Advanced
michelle

Agree with both responders, OP. https://www.cbfsms.com is great, but 1/2 time your text doesn't go through because their system is too busy (peak times are a nightmare).
Self-edit mode: Just was wondering who stole my brain! 'Great' in that you don't have to download software or create an account, etc., etc. Bad side: dumb new cbfsms promo advert attached to all texts; pop-up advertising; unreliability when sending ("sorry too busy try again in 8 minutes").

    Ciao recommends textmessenger.co.uk

I've not tried that one... Anybody??

    Skype supposedly allows CHEAP SMS...
Skype - A fantastic freeware program that allows you to make free telephone calls over the Internet with other Skype users, regardless of their location in the world. This program operates using peer to peer (P2P) networking and in a similar fashion to many instant messengers, allows you to see if your contacts are online or otherwise unavailable. Skype is free of spyware and adware, so you can be sure you're installing a safe and secure program.
    > When one Skype user contacts another, a video chat mode can be initiated. In order to take advantage of this feature, both parties require a Web cam and ideally a broadband Internet connection.
    > Users of Skype can also contact landlines and mobiles for a competitive rate, with no monthly fees or contracts.

but I've not tried it either.

    My 600th post! LOL!!

I use an orange Pay as You Go, free with one of their offers. If you register a sim card you get 30 free texts a month, on-line. My sim card doesn't get used...it is loose in the bottom of a drawer somewhere I think. Presumably if you txt frequently, this would work with several sims at 30 txt/month each.
It's nice to be nice .....
You HAVE checked google before asking, haven't you?;)
If you use the "search this thread" button at the top of the page, you may find it's been answered already!;)

    http://www.sheriffratings.com/

It's a really reliable and simple site. You get 10 txts per day but you need to give ratings to earn your creds. Doesn't take long because you get about 3 for each rating which takes 2 secs.
