When you loose your job.

what is the first approach knowing your not gonna be working next week?

Do yer start canceling direct debits? contacting creditors telling them your in trouble or what?

    Hi Andy,

I hope you aren't speaking personally and you haven't lost your job.

As fizzel has said the best place to get advice is the DFW board, even if you aren't in debt, they are experts at helping out with organisining finances and dealing with creditors etc so I'll move your thread over there.

  • Hi Andy

It really depends on the rest of your circumstances and whether you have any money in savings, whether you are likely to be able to get another job easily (if you are in a profession in demand), whether you are eligible for benefits etc etc

If you sit down and put togethar a statment of affairs it will give you a clearer picture of what you have and what you will need to spnd to cary on getting by. There is a calculator to help you with this at www.makesenseofcards.com. Once you know what the score is it may make it easier speaking to the people that you have to pay.

It may also be worth popping into your local CAB and they should be able to help you see what you have to do next.

One final thing is that even if you don't have debt you MUST make your priority paymetns first (eg mortgage, council tax)
