I wanna beauty counter makeover

I'm useless at applying makeup and want to get some sort of makeover or lesson at a beauty counter to get some tips before Christmas.
I want to know
a) Is this possible?
Anyone got any experience of where is best? ie. Boots, debenhams... I live in Chester
c) how much would I be looking at paying?
d) will I be forced to spend £00s on designer makeup that I don't want?
Thanks!

Hi Beccatt, I have had one or two of these in the past in the house of frazer/boots /debs, they are usually free of charge and just a way of the beauty companies showing you thier new products. Just walk up to the counters and ask for some advice and say you would like to try some new products.
I would throughly recommend Chanel make-up counters here you can have a lesson, and the products although pricey last ages and are excellent quality, you can usually find them in the above shops. You can also get free samples, you usually have to buy one or two products though.
I hear Bobbi Brown are also good on this.
Hope this helps!!!!!!
Let me know how you get on.0 -
Sorry I forgot there is usually no obligation to buy, but I have found out about some really good products and tips I would have never bought or tried b4 I did this.0

I have used the Body Shop on a couple of occasions and they have been really helpful . Helps if you ask if they can do it when it is convenient for them , but most of them will have a make up assistant available. Again you dont have to pay for it , but you might decide that something they have used appeals to you . Got to say they are a lot less scary that the beauty counter ladies , who frighten me , as I am convinced they will look at me and say " sorry there is nothing we can do for you ". Tee hee x0

I've tried a Clinique makeover and the Christian Dior and they were both excellent - the downside is that the products are so good you end up buying something....0

hi!
i've JUST had an email from pressiebox, they are selling hair and makeover and a photo shoot for £44.95, buy one get one free! in london, manchester or birmingham. think they may try an sell extra picci's tho', but being a money saver - i can say no!
like you i'm hopeless at makeup, and this sounds like good value for money to me. drop a hint to the other half, or, if he's like mine, you can always bring the page up and show him!"It is not uncommon for slight acquaintances to get married, but a couple really have to know each other to get divorced." - Anonymous0 -

:T How do I contact pressiebox? Sounds like a great idea for DD 18 birthday...Unless anybody else got other ideas, birthday is on new years day, usually quiet bleak day, as all up late the night before. Getting desperate!!0

well here is a money saving idea... :j
You could contact one of the make up artists around your area. Usually most of them do private one on one session at their homes or yours. The lessons lasts about 3 hours (obviously depends on the person) and they teach you how to use your OWN makeup to the maximum and the best way to suite YOU. On top of that, makeup artists usually dont use only one companies products, usually they have mixture of best items of each company so they can advise you and show you how to use it.
good luck0
