    Hi Angela,

I believe that most creditors will prefer to deal with a "proper" DMP company such as Payplan, however there is no reason that you can not try and do it all yourself.

There are some sample letters that you can download from here:

    Which will hopefully help.

    Good luck

The CCCS also have/had a DIY DMP pack which my ex used succesfully. PM me if you have any difficulty finding it and I will send you the pack.
  • Hi Angela

i work for egg in the collections dept. whilst i know a lot of people want to get things sorted themselves, as far as im aware, the only dmps we consider are ones through a third party (preferabley payplan or cccs)
  • Hi Angela
I tried to do it all myself with a pack from CAB but my credit card companies just would not stop the interest, after about three months of trying I eventually contacted payplan. I thought they would think I was a right idiot for getting int such debt (£33k) but they were great and I felt great afterwards. They were great for working out your outgoings, even vets fees etc.

It's the best thing I have done, I still get calls from credit card companies asking to review the payments but I just tell them that my curcumstances have not changed and that seems to keep them quiet.

    Good luck angela
