October Base Rate Prediction

  • I think it is likely a quarter decrease than a half cut but a half isn't impossible.

  • Down .25% for me. Possibly .5% depending on the markets over the next couple of days.

I think hold, even though I voted up .25%!!

I actually think that they dont have a clue about what to do! They cannot make a difference with the BOE base rate, its a bigger problem than that.

This is global, the financial playgound has been closed because of vandals!

Let's hope it does'nt go down and rates stay on hold or increase would be very nice.

    Inflation is still nudging 5%.

If they go down it will make no difference to the rate people get charged because the inter-bank rates won't change.

All that would happen is that people like me earning interest as their only form income would have a serious cut in living standards just as things are starting to look up.

A cut in rates would directly affect those on a tracker mortgage tracking the BOE base rate.
    My mortgage is BOE rate + 0.89%, i.e. 5.89%
A cut would be good, thank you!

Mortgage rates are still very low - savers have had to suffer low rates for a long time now. Lets hope on hold or increase.

Think we'll see a break with the inflation rule and a 0.5% to 1.0% cut.

What they should do,because of their inflation remit, is to INCREASE rate by 1% minimum.

But I`m afraid they`ll bow to pressure and cut by a quarter.
  • Aussie's have slashed their rate from 7% to 6%
