Please please can any of you lovely OS'ers help me rescue my boots?
DH managed to spill melted butter all over my brand new sheepskin Ugg style boots yesterday and the left boot now has a real unsightly stain on it
Can anyone suggest anything to remove it? I am considering Surcare washing up liquid as washing up liquid is best for grease and Surcare has no dyes in it which could transfer colour to the sheepskin?
Any help would be massively appreciated as I've only had these boots 2 weeks and I'm gutted!

I actually managed to wash my sheepskin boots in the washing machine last winter and they came up beautifully. Some manufacturers say that you can't do this (it depends on the brand) but some say you can.
With butter, especially if they are pale, this might be the only option. There's some stuff about washing sheepskin uggs here http://www.snugboots.co.uk/sheepskin_care.html but when I did it I used the wool wash on my machine and some gentle washing liquid.
Hope you get the problem sorted. I can't be parted from my boots!0 -
Hi,
I hope this is the right place for this query.
I stupidly dropped sausage fat on my lovely new boots. Any ideas for getting it off? I have tried white vinegar but am very cautious.
I know that they are very delicate being sheepskin - I bought them because the keep my feet warm.
Many thanksI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

Have you tried putting some talc on the stain leaving for a few hours and then brushing with a stiff brush? If you don't have talc you can use flour. I use this method for most grease stains as the talc/flour absorbs the fat.Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

Plain brown parcel paper (the old fashioned kind) placed over the stain then use a hot iron over it, as if you are ironing the paper, should lift the fat out of the boots. Have never tried it on sheepskin but can't think why it wouldn't make some improvement.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. The one that seems to be having the best effect is cornflour dabbed in then brushed out!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

Thanks. Cornflour has worked brilliantly. Dabbed it in and left it and brushed it out. Can hardly see where it was!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
