Few Questions???

Hi, I just have a few questions to ask about repossession of a property, it’s not my own it’s my OH’s dad.
To Cut a long story short a few years ago he got in to serous financial difficulty and everyone pulled together and helped him out, Me and my OH helped him clear arrears and to remortgage etc. now we are back to square one with him and its worse this time. He has received the court day for the order of repossession of his house its this end of this month, he has promised us that he’s was up to date with everything etc but obviously he’s been telling a few porkies to us for months now.
I know he’s spoken to the council and housing associations etc but he’s told them about me and his son having a three bedroom house with no children so its looking like we’re going to the one re housing him, I wouldn’t mind so much if he’d been honest they fact we paid his debt which meant holding out on buying out own home and have never asked for it back am feeling rather bitter towards him at the moment, Also to make matters worse this week he’s been forced to resign from his job of 27 years which leaves him in sticky situation as he can not claim job seekers etc and we also learnt that y OH is to be made redundant at the end of December.
There both looking at me for all the answers and I have not got a clue, We’ve only been home owners for 2 years and have a small amount of debt (around) 5k which is being paid off quickly, especially now I know my OH is going to be out of work.
I just wanted to know,
Roughly how many mortgage payments are missed when they start repossession?
Where I stand in telling him I don’t want him living with me us?
Is it to late to change my mortgage protection insurance to cover the full amount of the mortgage, (its will only cover around £270 and the mortgage is £491 per month).
Sorry is this is on the wrong board,
And thanks in advance

Hi
I'm not really an expert on this but just wanted to say welcome.
As far as how many mortgage payments are missed, I guess it depends on the mortgage provider - some may go for repossession after about 3 months of missed payments, some may go sooner. Has he spoken to his mortgage lender to explain the situation?
sorry I can't help further but someone will be along soon hopefully who will be able to assist further.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
Mortgage free since 2014
