Hi all. I've been posting on here for over a month and been helped along the way by the great advice on this forum. But I've hit a small problem!
I have sent off my DMP to CCCS last week. I had already written to all my creditors and made token payments until the DMP kicks in. I have also opened another bank account as advised. My problem is I am overdrawn with my original bank, who as far as I know are not aware of my financial situation, I only wrote to my loan companys and CC's. I want to change banks ASAP but I still have a few DD's due to come out and I dont have any spare cash to deposit in my new account to cover these. Will my old bank give me a hard time if I let the DD's run, and THEN let them know I wont be using their bank anymore and by then my overdraft will be about £1500 which will in effect then become a debt! Also, I was drawing cash out of the hole in the wall for everyday expenses but Im worried wether I should do that anymore, but as I said I've got no ready cash to get me through to next payday. Any advice anybody??

Don't worry too much. I felt like some kind of undercover spy whilst I opened a new account, transferred my DDs, wages, child benefit payments etc. I kept using my bank account until I was up to my overdraft limit as every month my wages would just clear the overdraft, but then I had to live off the overdraft until it was back to fully overdrawn (at which point we would start on the Credit Cards - hence the mess we're in now!)
Your main priority is to make sure everything that gets paid into your bank is changed to your new bank. Child benefit told us they'd inform tax credits but they didn't! So we've lost that
Your old bank won't like it but what else can you do? HSBC have been horrible to us because we used the card in the last few weeks to transfer a balance to from another card (the only way we could pay the min payent on the other card... just before our LBM!!!!)
Try not to worry, we used our OD to its limit then abandoned the account. It was the only way we could get through the month.
Sx:eek: LBM August 2008:eek:Total debt £51914.74 Paid off so far £47,611 DMP started November 08 Current debt £4,303.73Proud to be dealing with OUR debt ! :T0 -
Thanks for that. Did you not get any backlash off your old bank? I dont want them saying to me that I've been drawing on the account knowing that I was about to abandon it in the next couple of weeks.
I do worry about that, but on the other hand I suppose Im just another little fish in this countries big ocean of debt!
I've only got to make sure the few remaining DD's are paid and I could do with some cash to see me through the month to payday.0
