Uk state pension abroad

Options
Hello all,
This is my first post to MSE, I wonder if any of you guys can help me with this issue. I am currently a UK citizen and for the last few years I have been living in Hong Kong. I am coming up to retirement age and have decided to live out my final years here. I am looking to apply for HK citizenship and this means I need to re-nounce my UK citizenship. The question is will my renouncement of UK citizenship to HK citizenship affect my UK state pension as I have been contributing my NI and taxes for the most part of my life.

Thanks

Blessings from Osho

No it won't. Your state pension is based on the contributions you've paid, not your nationality. However, you won't receive increases on your state pension as the UK has no social security arrangement with HK (amazingly, given its history!!!) or China.
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
