Convert Dollar travellers cheques to £?

Hi,
We have recently returned from a holiday in the USA and have $4850 of dollar travellers cheques remaining. We obviously want to convert these back to sterling and were wondering where the best place to do this would be?
Does anyone know the best/cheapest place (best rate/lowest commission)?

Hi, in my experience the Post Office is the best place to do this as they don`t charge a fee (or didn`t last time I used them for this)
Banks charge for this service.

Shop around for the best rate, but there isn't that much difference. Post office probably as good as any. Do the place you got them from offer a commission free change back?

Have to say that changing that amount of £ into that amount of $ and back again is a good way to add a couple of hundred quid to the cost of your holiday! Better way is to take a no charge, no exchange loading, cash card, like nationwide's.

When I was in that situation I just kept them for a while. Dollars are used in so many parts of the world that unless you give up travel completely you will use them in the end.
