Your Salary Paid Yearly?

Morning all...

I was just thinking last night, imagine if your salary was paid yearly, would you think this was a good thing, or bad thing?

I guess the good points are that you could pay for all housing, loans, bills immediately, therefore giving you the rest of the money to split up over the year.

The bad things - you would have to be so disciplined, and if you ran out, would you just get loans/cards to cover and then have to pay a huge chunk when your 'yearly' salary came in...could be very very dangerous.

It's not going to happen to me, just a thought that came into my head last night. Personally I think I woud like it, imagine if you knew all your bills were paid upfront and you didn't have to worry about it through the year, but imagine if you were just left with very little, the stress this would cause! Also, probs if you change jobs etc..

If it was offered to you, would you accept it? Sorry for the ramble, just something that popped into my head last night...

No i definatly wouldnt accept it if it was offered! Like you said good points would be could pay all bills etc upfront - BUT i know i couldnt be that disciplined throughout the year - i would probably have run out of money by march :rotfl:

I am quite bad with budgeting, which is why i like OH being paid weekly - that way i only have to budget a week. I couldnt even imagine having to budgeting if his pay got changed to monthly :o

Knowing me i would probably blow all the money in the first month, leaving me with nothing for the year. So, no, definately not a good idea.

I think it would be a good idea if you were the right type of person who could budget etc.

However, for me it would be a big no no as I know I would be tempted to make bigger purchases that I avoid now. So monthly is good for me lol

  • But you wouln't be able to pay for your bills upfront would you?, because you wouldn't be paid your salary upfront, you would only get your salary at the end of the year when you had earned it so how would live for the full year and pay all your bills before you got paid at the end of it?

Fair point, ok then, maybe you would pay your bills in arrears, or, have amounts worked out that went into a account, that couldn't be touched, that would pay all bills out of....

anyway... as I said, not reality, just rambling thoughts!

As a student I am now paid 3 times a year and already I am stressed worried about how to budget it, so yearly would probably have me in pieces!

I would hate to be paid yearly - I would be absolutely useless and would probably have spent it all by the fourth month - its bad enough being paid monthly!!!!!!
