This is when they are recording to determine the cause of his snoring....and it is no problem at this time because he is usually asleep on the couch at 9pm unless he is watching footy!

falling asleep like that is very often a symptom...and being very tired at other times of the day. You should find that the CPAP machine is quieter as it prevents the snoring, and mrs GunJack always goes to bed with earplugs too...takes some getting used to, but it works for both of you :)

piggie, you hinting you're getting tired hun ???

I don't mind the ear plugs, i think the worse bit for me was his restlessness. The new mattress has helped a lot with that as he doesn't make me feel like i am on a ship any more. I am hoping the machine can sort it out.:o He hasn't been given one yet, just testing at the moment.

That's great to know, not for you :o but just that there are others out there coping with it. How do you feel about it all now? and has the machine made a big difference to you?

Too Right the CPAP has made a difference !! Used to start to nod off almost anywhere, including in the office, in meetings, even started to go when driving once or twice :( Snored like a ten-tonne warthog :( Even to the point that we had friends round on a Saturday as a regular thing, would start to drop off mid-conversation, and wouldn't believe it until mrs G-J filmed me doing it one time......that has pretty much all stopped now, providing I get enough sleep with mask on, same as most folks. And as I said earlier, the machine's FAR quieter than my snoring was :)

If it is sleep apnea, he will have to inform DVLA, fill in medical questionairre and his consultant wil have to write to them, make sure under treatment he's still fit to drive (I had to do all this, but have no driving restrictions) and insurance companies will have to have it declared. Sounds scary I know, but not too bad.

  • I am not so sure it is sleep apnea then, as he only falls asleep at night and seems to function ok during day. He never nods off in company, only mine lol!
But will wait and see what comes back. I know with me i have felt that i have been going mad at times, as i cannot function without sleep..although i seem to have been awake around the clock the past few years and my immune system was shot..feel loads better for being able to sleep without having to resort to tablets.
Glad you have been able to sort it all out, i bet it was scarey for a bit when you fell asleep everywhere.

Hope it goes okay for you both :) It may be he has mild s-a, so overall effects not too bad. Mine is moderate-severe hence the scary symptoms, but some poor sods (especially lorry drivers ) get it even worse :(

Keep us posted as to how you get on.

Speaking of sleep, I'm going to get my head down now, steel myself for the hell that will be the kids party in the morning :(

catch you again soon bob.....and pssttt...wanna buy some earplugs ?!?!?!? :D
