Any deals on kitchens about?

Hi

Are there any deals/genuine good offers about on new kitchens? I have been to MFI today who are supposed to have a 70% off sale due to the management buyout but their prices still seem quite high for flat pack kitchens!

And who would you recommend for a good quality kitchen but that does not break the bank! I have been told that Howdens offer good quality kitchens (i.e. solid carcasses) at a good price, any others?

And with the credit crunch on, do you think it would be possible to get good deals as I doubt many people are buying big ticket items such as kitchens.

Anybody on the forums had a good deal on a kitchen recently, and from where?

TIA

  • Howdens have their sale this timme of year, doesn't last long but is well worth it. I got my kitchen last year from them, loads of units, worktop, sink, taps, intergrated washer dryere, oven, hob & extractor, just over £2000.

thanks, I never knew that - are all howdens kitchens the same as MFI or is it just certain types?

Did you barter with howdens or mfi, to get a better price and or to get the appliances thrown in? If so what approach did you use, i.e. playing the prices off against one another to get them down to their bottom line
  • I just had them over, they did a really good drawing, showing my how everything will be & it all turned up. I chose the sink & units & worktop, the appliances were just their standard issue ones. Turns out tho my washer dryer is loads better than my step mums & my oven is amazing and my mum who is a very keen cook really wants it! Think the units had 78% off & the appliances were very discounted too. You need a builder or someone in the trade to get it for you but im sure that would be hard to find.

Well worth getting them round to do the drawings & price it up. If it comes out too much they will tell u by takin out little fancy units & puttin in more standard ones will bring the price down, otherwise at least ul hav a really good image of how ur kitchen will look & u could take it to MFI to price the same up there.

    Sales doesnt last long tho!!!

I've been reading in the newspapers last weekend that mfi are in such financial trouble that you would be taking a huge risk to buy anything from them that you can't carry home on the day. If they go bust, your money would be lost I think, unless maybe it was paid for on a credit card?
