Hi all,
As of Friday 3rd October 2008, I am now debt-free!!:j:j:j (All except my student loan, which I don't really count). All other loans have now been paid-off, overdraft has disappeared (and been reduce from £1500 to £50) and credit cards have been cleaned. I would just like to thank all of you for your help and support over the past two years. It has been a long road, but well worth it. Without your stories of inspiration and helpful advice, I couldn't have done it. I may not have been the most active poster, but I read the forums almost daily and still intend to do so.
I'm now looking forward to the future. I've joined my new company pension (v. grown-up) and I'm piling any extra pennies into my ISA like it's going out of fashion! It's also really strange that, even with cash left over after payday, I cannot seem to break these darn good habits. I was in Debenhams today browsing through their 70% sale and I walked out of there, without buying anything!
To all of you who are struggling, hang on in there! You can do it and there is an end in sight. One of the things I've found is that you don't need to have a big income and lots of things to sell to pay off your debts. For the first six months, I was earning minimum wage and my partner was on benefits. It all started by visiting this website and transferring to a 0% credit card. Every long journey starts with a single step.
Big hugs to you all. You've given me my life back.
