Sky dish problem

According to Sky my dish is slightly mis-aligned so I am having problems with some HD channels. Their call out charge is £65.

Does anyone know if I can get this done cheaper especially around the Carrick area?

Ring around local aerial companies in your area from yellow pages. Just ask for a simple re-align. should certainly cost less than the £65 Sky are charging.

How long have you had the HD fitted ...

    A. less than 12 months, I'd be telling Sky to come & sort it under warranty assuming their engineers fitted it

    B. more than 12 months, you're out of warranty & it's not unheard of people cancelling their subscriptions & being offered all sorts of goodies to entice them to stay ;)

I know someone :D who got a new Sky+ box (80gb) after their out of warranty 40gb box started to skip and they threatened to cancel. Less than 4 months later it's going on ebay since upgrading to the HD

  • My bro had trouble with his recently installed Sky dish.

Sky installed it where tree branches on the street interferred with the reception. He phoned Sky and complained that they had put it in a stupid place and therefore he had no intention of paying to have it moved, they sent someone out, burbled some rubbish about needing to get their 'high team' out to move the dish, went away.

'High team' came out (one man and a ladder!), dish moved free of charge plus a credit on his bill (£60?) for the inconvenience of having to sit in the house twice waiting for the Sky to decide who could move the dish (he works from home!!!)

    Problem solved!

This is dead true.... The proper name for the "High team" is, wait for it..
    Special Heights Installation Team..
Someone at Sky deserves a pat on the back for that one..:rotfl:

Nowadays the standard installers run away from a job if they can't nail the dish up from no more than step ladder height, then Sky try to charge you extra for Special H.I.T to come out just cos their normal installers are workshy cowards.
How do I know this? I used to work for the Special Heights team...I'm just so glad we weren't issued with "FBI" style jackets..:D

So what's the usual price for realigning the dish?
