House prices do need to come down.
I worry how my grandchildren are going to buy a house in ten years time.
We bought the house we have now (in Essex) for £86,980 - now valued at £450,000.
Our first house (new semi) buy was in Yorkshire back in the late 60's and cost £3,200.
Have we actually handled/seen any actual money from these increases - NO!
They have just been our home.0 -
lol, i paid £187,500 for my home 5 years ago, today it is worth £220,000 , the value has not gone down at all over the last few years, which makes your scaremongering look just like scaremongering !0

Look at it another way what could you buy for £187'500 5 years ago and what can you buy now for £220'000 ?

A vendor/agent would expect someone making that kind of offer to just up it to the asking price.
You need to go in and make offers at 10-15% below asking and negotiate from there.
If the vendor is offended, take your business to someone with a more businesslike mind. Too many vendors entrench emotion in these big, big decisions and it's slowing the whole market down... whilst at the same time, vendors hardly have any prospect of recovery so it's not worth them "holding out" for a better offer.
Well, not till RPI hits 20% perhaps!But then we're in wheelbarrow territory and nominally-speaking a total dearth of a "meaningful" further crash.
