Looking for a breadmaker

Hi, I'd like to buy my mum a breadmaker for Christmas does anyone know of any good deals at the moment or can you recommend a particular model ?

I have had the Panasonic SD253 for a couple of years now and been very pleased, particularly as it had a gluten free programme for my daughter. Amazon has it at £77 but it may be cheaper elsewhere.

this one at Argos was mentioned over on the Old-Style forum, don't know how good it is, but it's a well-known brand, seems to do just about everything & it's half price. might be worth a look

There is already a thread on Breadmaking with lots of comments on different breadmakers, recipes, etc. Click here for information. I think the choice seems to be between Panasonic SD253 or the cheaper Morphy Richards. Amazon is a good a place as any to buy - currently the Panasonic is at £76.97

re Morphy Richards - I have found their Customer Service very friendly and helpful. You have an 0870 number to phone them with any problems (rather than refer back to the retailer), you can register your product on the phone and they will send replacements.

They've never kept me holding on playing music, either.

I can't speak for any other breadmaker manuf. Currently I've got the one with the fall-down paddle, which I abuse dreadfully with my aspirational self-created recipes containing far too many heavy ingredients like wheat germ, oat bran, ground pumpkin seeds, etc, etc, all at once, there's hardly any room for the flour sometimes .
